China’s biopharma cross-border out-licensing sector continues its powerful upward momentum, with total deal volume approaching $130 billion across the first three quarters of the year.

The surge in global demand is further evidenced by a sharp increase in immediate capital commitments. In the third quarter alone, business development (BD) upfront payments reached $2.3 billion, marking a robust 27% year-over-year growth.

This surge reflects global pharmaceutical leaders' growing appetite and confidence in China-originated innovation, particularly in key therapeutic modalities such as antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), bispecific antibodies, and novel small molecules.
