U-Yi Biotech, a China-based company focused on the R&D and manufacturing of serum-free culture media, has completed a Series A financing round worth tens of millions of RMB.

The proceeds will be used to strengthen U-Yi Biotech’s R&D platform, expand domestic and overseas sales channels, and support business development. As the global biologics market continues to grow, serum-free culture media have become a critical upstream consumable for biopharmaceutical manufacturing.

Founded in 2022 and based in Suzhou, U-Yi Biotech is a national high-tech enterprise specializing in serum-free culture media. The company operates a 1,000-square-meter R&D laboratory and a 3,000-square-meter GMP manufacturing facility, supporting large-scale production of both dry powder and liquid media. In 2024, the company obtained ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 quality system certifications.

U-Yi Biotech has built differentiated product lines for biologics development and cell therapy, including incubation-free high-expression CHO transient transfection solutions, all-factor MSC culture systems, single-feed media, CHO K1 cells, iPSC kits, and MSC kits.

According to the company, its single-feed medium can simplify biologics production workflows by around 30%, while its incubation-free CHO transient transfection kit can reduce single transfection time from 30 minutes to 30 seconds. The company has also developed a proprietary process to convert traditionally liquid-stored stem cell media into a stable dry powder format.

To date, U-Yi Biotech’s products have been adopted by more than 250 industrial customers, including leading CRDMO companies and innovative drug developers.

This financing will support U-Yi Biotech’s continued expansion in the upstream bioprocessing market and reflects growing investor interest in life science tools, cell culture technologies, and biomanufacturing infrastructure.
