Zecui Biotech Completes $75M Round, Scaling Oncology & Metabolic Cell Therapy
12 August 2026
On July 28, 2026, Zecui Biotech announced the completion of a US$75 million new financing round led by multiple overseas investment institutions. Proceeds will be directed into its two core pipelines — oncology and endocrine/metabolic diseases — focusing on disease mechanisms, individualized therapies and overcoming translational bottlenecks to accelerate innovative therapies from the lab to the clinic.
Founded in Shanghai in 2018, Zecui anchored on unmet clinical needs with a human pluripotent stem-cell platform that cultures specific neural cells to replace and repair damaged brain neurons — a novel approach to Parkinson's disease. In August 2021, a US$30 million angel round powered its Parkinson's cell-therapy pipeline; the team built a mature clinical-grade pluripotent stem-cell differentiation process and validated motor-function repair in animal models, accumulating solid preclinical data and an end-to-end R&D platform.
The new financing supports a strategic upgrade: Zecui is breaking its single-pipeline model and extending its platform — combining stem cells, gene editing and microenvironment modulation — into solid tumors and metabolic disorders. The pivot reflects clear industry trends, as cell therapy shifts from direct tumor killing to remodeling the tumor immune microenvironment, and as research shows tumor and metabolic disease are deeply linked through metabolic reprogramming.
With the round closed, Zecui will expand its core R&D team and strengthen translational medicine to accelerate multiple pipelines — moving from a single Parkinson's program to a multi-field platform for major diseases.
